Russian Notes:
The Russians had done no reconaissance at all and were in column of march
moving south. They did not expect a battle. They were in the order: Avant
Garde, 2nd Div, 1st Div, 3rd Div. Avant Garde and 2nd Div begin the game in
road column and disordered. 1st and 3rd Divisions begin the game disordered.
Hetman Serebryakov leads the left flank of the Avant Garde. Much of the army
artillery was mixed up with the baggage to the rear and is not represented
on the table. Many of the Cossacks also appear to be absent, probably away
from the main column looting and pillaging.
The army had conducted a long march in excessive summer heat and had
suffered thousands of stragglers and sick, hence the low morale ratings.
There appears to have been no difference on the day between the performance
of the grenadier and musketeer regiments.
All infantry and the cavalry brigades which include horse grenadiers and
dragoons have battalion guns.
All infantry except the seven musketeer regiments of 1st Division have
grenadiers present.
PRUSSIAN ARMY

Prussian Notes:
Although the infantry was commanded by lines and not wings, it attacked in
two separate directions and the attack broke down into two unco-ordinated
wing style attacks, hence the above organisation.
All infantry have battalion guns present.
Times of arrival -
5:00 a.m. turn:
Lt-Genl Schorlemer (Prussian left) attacks Browne (Russian right/tail of column)
Duke of Holstein (Prussian right) attacks Sibilsky (Russian left/head of column)
6:00 a.m. turn
Prussian left wing infantry attacks Fermor.
Prussian right wing infantry attacks Lopukhin.
I'd define the Norkitten Wood as 'open wood' with clumps of 'wood' in it.
There was a lot of fighting in it and it certainly disordered both sides but
there are accounts of Russian guns operating in it too.
