PHOTOS TAKEN OF FRANK CHADWICK'S 54MM GUILFORD COURTHOUSE GAME LITTLE WARS 1995
Guildford Courthouse was an action fought in March 1781 in North Carolina. Cornwallis is attempting to bring Greene's army to battle and destroy him. Greene deployed his troops in three lines. The first line had the worst militia with some riflemen (my position for the Bi-Centenial of the battle). The second had the rest of the militia with the Cavalry and the third had the regular Contenential Line. The idea was to weaken the numericially inferior but much better quality British army prior to it reaching the final line. Although Greene lost it was a Phyrric victory for the British and resulted in Cornwallis retreating to Yorktown. 54mm figures from the collection of Frank Chadwick. British painted by Tom Harris. Americans painted by Frank Chadwick and Walt LeBegue. Photos by Dave Hermann.
The British Army advances on the Americans. The Highlanders have already been driven back.
The second line of the American army deployed to stop the British. The Continentals have already moved forward from their postition on the hill behind the second line.
The Contentials turn the British flank. The rest of the American army closes in.
