I'm so glad that you've found your way to my page.
I've put it up to update on our cousin's baby little James.
Lori of
Lori's Pawprints
has so graciously made James a little graphic.
If you click HERE, you can pick up one of these
wonderful graphics to link to this page as well.
Baby James can use all the prayers he can get.
Thank you!

Little baby James is born! He is approximately 12 weeks early.
So tiny at only 1 lb 15 oz. and 13 inches in length.
He is a real fighter. He was born kicking and breathing on his own.
Please keep little James in your thoughts and prayers.
He can use all the help he can get right now.
Here is his picture. The hand is that of his father's.
He is in an incubator with blinders on to protect his little eyes from the light.

December 8th, 2003

Baby James is now 10 days old. He is continuing to improve.
There was a problem with a valve in his heart not closing, but it is now closed and he seems to be doing well. Your continued prayers are requested.
Keep up the great work!
Here is another picture without that light on.
The hand is that of his mother.

December 10th, 2003

Baby James didn't have a good night. His blood pressure was dropping again and had to have another transfusion.
His little body only contains about 3 oz. of blood so every time
they do blood tests they have to give him more.
He is also beginning to retain fluids. Hopefully his output will start to increase. They are going to test his kidneys and other organs.

December 12th, 2003

Things still aren't good. James has peed just a little bit, but not nearly what he needs to.
His tests have shown that his organs are all working properly, so they are
bringing in a specialist. They are going to take him off of antibiotics except for the one for his yeast infection.
They are hoping that this will help him. They also have put him on a sedative to
keep him from moving around so much and pulling the oxygen out of postiton.

December 14th, 2003

Thank you so much for your prayers!
Little James has now expelled most of the fluid that he was retaining.
He is still up and down on the oxygen, so they are continuing to adjust his level.
He was only lightly sedated today, mostly to keep from being in discomfort or pain.

December 17th, 2003

Little James is still fighting away. He is still on a light sedative and on an antibiotic for his yeast infection.
He's back under the lights because he's a bit jaundiced, but continuing to improve. He now weighs in at around 2 pounds. He has more tubes right now and they are trying to make sure he doesn't dehydrate with all of his meds. They also want to slowly wean him from his BP medication soon and hopefully the oxygen too. The tubes are pulling his little face. Poor James... Keep up the good work buddy.

March 2nd, 2004

After drinking a final bottle at the hospital.

Little James got ready to go...

said his goodbyes and went home to grow big and strong with his family!

He was 92 days old. Ü

The family has a message they'd like to share....

On November 29, 2003, James Robert Martin was born
just over 3 months early, 1# 15oz, 13" long.
He was due March 5, 2004.
He went home yesterday, March 2, 2004, 3 days before his due date,
weighing in at 5# 13oz, 18" long.
It is with great pleasure that we thank each
and every one of you for your prayers and for caring.
Because of your efforts, we made it.

Thank you so much from Mom, Dad, Austin, Christine, Justin
and, of course, Grandma and Grandpa Martin.
God bless all of you.

Little James can still use your prayers. His vision has no doubt been affected and other complications may occur from the premature birth. If you could please remember him in your prayers, this little miracle and his family would appreciate your help.
I will try to update every now and then for you.

Hugs,
Kelli Ü
