LeBordo Persians was
founded in 1991 by Linda and Paul Russell of Kettering, OH. Since one of our other
passions was French Bordeaux wine, our cattery name is a play on the word Bordeaux. All the
cats we bred (and, wherever possible, those we bought) were named after French Bordeaux
wines. We bred only Persians, specializing in Smokes and Shadeds.
Our breeding stock also included Solids, Particolors, and Bi-Colors. Our smoke lines
were from Purrmunn, Skidrose, Kaaekrest, Hugsalot, and Purz
N Paws. Our solids and particolors were basically Marsamis stock, with some Lacelegacy, Snooksy
and Shelby. Our bi-colors were from Vickits.
LeBordo produced grands in the Shaded and
Smoke, Solid, Tabby, and Bi-Color divisions
LeBordo's last litter was born in 2000. There were many factors
involved in our decision to quit breeding and showing. Perhaps the
primary reason was the difficulty in finding good homes for pet kittens.
However, we weren't enjoying shows as much as we had at one time; much of
the "fun" left with the discovery that many of our best cats had the genetic
disorder PKD. After Paul's October '99 heart attack, he didn't have as much
energy; and Linda's work schedule reduced her time available for cat care
and showing of the cats. Linda and Paul were divorced in 2004. Most
of the cats were either sold as show cats or breeders, or neutered/spayed and placed in
pet homes. Paul retains the web site and cattery name. Each of
us has a few cats as pets. |
